Many of today’s children and youth have unhealthy eating patterns that can have negative consequences for their health and education. At Ligonier Elementary Nurse Denise, using the Fuel Up to Play 60 program, is helping promote healthy eating habits and exercise.

Nurse Denise set up a table of "healthy snacks" that students could try during lunch. The idea... to help kids be more aware of healthy food and snack choices. Students were able to taste test healthy choices such as broccoli, celery, carrots, oranges, and radishes.

Fuel Up to Play 60 is a new youth program sponsored by the National Dairy Council and the National Football League designed to empower students to take action for their health and improve their school environment. All students have to do is eat healthy, play at least 60 minutes a day and participate in fun activities in and out of school. You know, good things.
