WELCOME

Welcome to the WNHS Guidance Information page. We know that families are busy and have a lot of things on their plate. We hope that you find this webpage helpful as you help your child navigate through their high school career and plan for their future, whether that would be college, military, or in the workforce. We will be updating this webpage frequently, so make sure you check for any changes. We welcome feedback so that we can better serve you and your child.

WANT TO RECEIVE VALUABLE INFORMATION ABOUT UPCOMING APPLICATIONS AND TESTING DEADLINES, SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES AND ENCOURAGING ADVICE FOR YOUR STUDENT?

  • Text the word "grad" and your student's graduation year (example, grad2014) to 69979 to receive 3-4 texts per month. Sponsored by the Indiana Youth Institute and Trip to College.org.  Standard message and data rates apply. Students must be 13 or older to join the program.

UPCOMING EVENTS

  • Every student will meet with their counselor to choose classes. The course guide will be available online. Small video clips from a variety of departments outlinging their courses will also be available for parents to view in the next couple of weeks. Please take time to talk with your child concerning their course selection for next year. We ask that you sign your child's enrollment forms before they meet with their counselor. Please take time to look at the different diploma requirements. Junior and Sophomores are under the Diplomas effective for class of 2014-15. Freshman will be under the Diplomas effective for class of 2016-17. The diploma information is located under Guidance presentation and resources.
  • If your son/daughter is planning to take an AP and/or dual credit course there are some resources available for you to understand what this would mean and how your child would qualify for these classes.
    • AP/Dual Credit power point - Under the Guidance Presentation and Resources. This explains the difference between AP and Dual Credit and what classes we offer for both.
    • Transfer IN - under Internet Resources - this tells you how courses transfer between Indiana Public colleges
    • Dual Credit Information for Indiana's Independent Colleges and Universities - under Guidance Presentations and Resources. This tells you how credits transfer between colleges in Indiana public or private.
    • Liberal Arts Priority Courses - Under Guidance Presentations and Resources. This tells the dual credit courses allowed for Academic Honors Diploma types 2012-13.
    • CTE Priority Courses - Under Guidance Presentation and Resources - This tells you what dual credit from vocational program will be allowed for the Technical Honors Diploma for 2012-13

SENIOR CLASS INFORMATION

  • Seniors planning to attend college during the 2013-14 school year should begin working on their FAFSA. The Financial Aid presentationo that the seniors all participated in is located under Financial Aid and Scholarships. The deadline for the FAFSA is March 10. If the process does not have the FAFSA by this date, students will not be eligible for Indiana Financial Aid. Please see the Financial Aid presentatioin for more information.
  • Family Financial Aid Night - This will be held on Tuesday, January 15th at 7:00 p.m. in the LRC at West Noble High School. Seniors and parentsa are encouraged to attend to learn more about the financial aid process and completing the FAFSA.
  • Reminder the Noble County Community Foundation Scholarship is due Jan. 24 at 4:30.
  • If you have not applied to colleges you need to ASAP.
  • If you have not taken the SAT or ACT and you are considering a 4 year college you need to get registered ASAP.
  • PLEASE SEE YOUR CONSELORS IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS. WE WANT TO HELP.

JUNIOR CLASS INFORMATION

  • Junios need to be looking at their calendars and plan to take the SAT or ACT this spring. One of these test is required to be admitted into a 4 year college. It is best to take it once your junior year so that you have time to retake if you do not do as well as you would like.
