Welcome to the WNHS Guidance Information page. We know that families are busy and have a lot of things on their plate. We hope that you find this webpage helpful as you help your child navigate through their high school career and plan for their future, whether that would be college, military, or in the workforce. We will be updating this webpage frequently, so make sure you check for any changes. We welcome feedback so that we can better serve you and your child.

SENIOR APPOINTMENTS - Counselors will meet with each senior.  Counselors check graduation requirements, career goals, and steps after graduation (college, military, or work).  College selection, college visits, college applications, scholarships, required test (SAT/ACT), will be discussed with seniors planning to attend college.  ASVAB (required entrance exam into Military), branches of the Military, and recruiter contact will be discussed with those interested in the military.  Resumes, applications, interviewing skills, and job search skills will be discussed with those planning to seek employment.  Parents are welcome to attend this meeting.  Please call or email your son/daughters counselor to set up an appointment.


Application timeline in order to meet scholarship deadlines – Aug-Oct. Most applications need to be completed online at the college website.

  • Students must request a transcript from WN by creating an account  at http://www.parchment.com/
  • Students who used a fee waiver for the SAT qualify for 4 college fee waivers.  Please see your counselor for these waivers.


    1. Scholarship list updated and located on Guidance page of WN website
    2. Scholarship emails - if you would like an email when new scholarships become available, email Mrs. Wallen (wallens@westnoble.k12.in.us) and she will put you on this list.
    3. Check with colleges to see what scholarships they offer. This is usually found on the financial aid page.
    4. FAFSA (Free application for Federal Student Aid) - form all colleges use to determine financial need. In November the counselors will meet with seniors to discuss the FAFSA plus other scholarship information. Parents are welcome to attend.
    5. Internet websites - fastweb.com. You should not have to pay anyone to complete scholarship searches for you.
    6. College Cost Estimator - free site that Indiana sponsors. This will help you get an idea of what college will cost based on your financial situation. Free advice is available when College Cost estimator application is complete.

SAT - students on free and reduced lunch can receive two waivers for the SAT.

You can help your students register for the SAT by providing them with the testing schedule in addition to helping them negotiate the registration process. For students testing outside the U.S., see the applicable international dates and deadlines below.

  • PSAT - PSAT sign- up will be coming soon.  The PSAT is the practice test for the SAT which is one of the required tests for admission to a four year college.  Mrs. Martin will be coming into English classes to sign students up.  If you son/daughter does not have English the first trimester, they will be called out of homeroom to sign up.  The PSAT will be given the morning of October 16 at West Noble High School.

  • Classroom Presentations

    • Four Year Plans – Counselors will be reviewing graduation requirements, discussing career options, and discussing future plans with all freshmen in their Preparing for College and Career class.  We will help each freshman create a four year plan (high school plan).
    • Conflict Resolution – Counselors will meet with every freshman during their health class to discuss conflict resolution skills.
